“BEE & BIRD,” by Craig Frazier, Roaring Brook Press, May 10, 2011, $16.99 (ages 4-8)
Some books ask you to use more imagination than others. Others just ask you to look at things in a different way. “Bee & Bird” asks young readers to do a little of both.
There are no words in “Bee & Bird,” just bold and graphic illustrations that will stretch children and adult minds alike. Highly saturated colors further add to basic shapes and patterns as readers follow a bee and a bird on an unexpected and delightful journey.
Though simple in overall design, there’s more to “Bee & Bird” than one sees at first glance. There’s a sophistication to this well-thought-out story that youngsters and their parents will both appreciate.
